Beetlejuice had it good, compared to most folks. You know what I mean; all of a sudden, without warning, your head is full of wild ass-tearing demons, screaming at the top of your lungs, wrecking house & home, making suicide seem like an option when it isn’t. Why do these horribles, kept submerged and supressed all these years, keep coming back to haunt you? Where do they come from? How did they get out? Why do they have so much destructive power over you? Why do they cause you to ruin your own life? How do they get re-triggered? How can you stop them from intruding on your life? Will they ever permanently go away? I’ll be answering these questions at the next ICW. If you have no such problem, don’t watch.

Finally. I’ve been working on this little beauty for quite a while — about 35 years has gone into it at the moment. I’m working on a full-bore Bardo Temple, with 7 giant halls, each with a rotunda and seven chambers with all your Bardo Buddies, like the Horse-Faced Girl and the Blue Round-Eyed Buzbug. Oh, yeah, they’re in there waiting for you. Only thing, there’s nothing in there that’s gonna harm you, mess you up, jump on you, drop on you from the ceiling, shoot you from a distance…nothing like that is going to happen. You can’t drown in the water or crisp yourself into bacon by plummeting into the hot lava. No level of violence at all. Sounds like a loser videogame without violence, eh? Wrong. You wait to see how many folks welcome a game that actually works to free them from organic slavery!

American McGee visited us; we worked with him on Quake sounds and combat “feel” for internet multiplay. We were under contract with Id Software, so a computer was brought into our workspace for McGee to correct the inevitable bugs and gameplay stoppages. Here’s some direct video of American McGee playing pre-release versions of Quake during level-editing sessions at my Game Design Atelier ‘way back when Quake and Doom and Duke Nukem first started!!!

How to use all this new cellphone, video and html5 technology? No sweat; here’s one suggestion…video yourself as a choir, adding ALL the parts into the whole, one by one. The conclusion I came to is that this very talented kid has a hell of a lot of time on his hands. I spend more than 5 minutes making a Tin-Pan Alley Hit on youtube and I feel like I’ve failed. Enjoy. He’s really quite exceptional. I hope he monetizes the hell out of his efforts!

This animal shelter video game is … well, to be generous, good in conception and crapola in execution. I can do much, much better to create a game that encourages people to adopt unwanted and abandoned pets, and to treat animals — including bipeds — a lot better. I’d need development money, about $300,000, for animators and programmers to make it happen, but it’s well within reach, and could, if it’s made right, be a blockbuster runaway viral video game! Any takers?
