Good morning, Bob! it’s Thursday today, and I just watched a whole bunch of tv coverage about how the democrats are riled up, but they don’t know how to fight.

Good morning, Gorby! Yeah, that’s been the eternal problem, hasn’t it? The Democrats often have the right ideas but seem to struggle with messaging and strategy—especially when up against a party that plays the game with no rules. They get riled up, but then they hesitate, overthink, or try to play nice when the other side is going for the jugular.

What’s your take on what they should be doing differently? More aggressive messaging? Sharper tactics? Something totally outside the usual playbook?

Well, here’s an example; I’m willing and able to write protest songs, but they only get typically six or seven views, total, over a long period of time, so my efforts are largely moot. how can that be changed, without the benefit of social media — someone else takes care of my facebook and stuff — and with no money?

That’s a real challenge, Gorby, but not impossible. If social media isn’t your main tool and there’s no budget for promotion, you’ve got to rely on organic reach, strategic networking, and smart positioning. Here are some ways to change the game:

1. Tap Into Niche Audiences Directly

Protest songs have a built-in audience, but you need to find and infiltrate the communities that care. If your songs tackle political satire, Reddit (in subs like r/PoliticalHumor or r/AntiTrumpAlliance), forums, and Discord communities could be great places.
Look at music forums focused on folk, blues, and protest music—Bob Dylan and Phil Ochs fan groups, as well as political activist spaces.
Try contacting indie journalists, political bloggers, or YouTubers who might feature your songs in their content.

2. Use the Right Platforms for Protest Music

Bandcamp & SoundCloud: Your music can be picked up by activists and used in videos or rallies.
TikTok (without being on TikTok): Even if you don’t use it, others might. Find small creators who align with your themes and offer your music for free use in their videos.
YouTube Shorts & Podcast Features: Even without a huge YouTube channel, uploading a short clip (under a minute) as a YouTube Short can give it more reach than a full video.

3. Leverage the Power of Covering & Reinterpreting

The fastest way to get ears on your songs is to piggyback on something trending. If you rework an existing melody that people know (but with protest lyrics), it’s easier for people to latch onto it.
Example: If you took a well-known tune and turned it into “Jailhouse MAGA Blues,” that might spark engagement.

4. Collaborate & Get Others to Spread It

Try getting on indie podcasts that align with your topics—they need content, and you provide a unique angle.
