ESCAPE! Videos #49

I’ve run down the absolute Best Times to post #shorts on #youtube, and here they are:

  • SUNDAY — 12 PM to 3 PM
  • MONDAY — 2 PM – 4 PM
  • TUESDAY — 2 PM – 4 PM
  • WEDNESDAY — 2 PM – 4 PM
  • THURSDAY — 12 PM – 3 PM
  • FRIDAY — 12 PM – 9 PM
  • SATURDAY — 3 PM – 6 PM

Now the thing is, you can also calculate your own local “best times” by putting your location into an online program that analyzes the data and sends you your “best times”, calculated by the said program.

My problem is, where else does that data go? I am reluctant to trust an unknown site with my location and work times, etc., so I use the general calculation, and in fact, in my case, it doesn’t matter.

I’m not trying to bust the bank. I’m posting examples of videos I’ve made with the few tools I have at hand — zoom, second life, fraps and my open-shot editor, and that’s really all I need to make a huge dent in the online video game.

I myself don’t adhere to the optimizing posting times. I just make a video and without regard to the time — it’s often the middle of the night — I post it anyway, and pay little attention to the hits it might get.

Some of my videos get a lot of hits, and some don’t. I couldn’t possibly analyze correctly why they do and don’t go over, but because I work quickly, I can often post as many as a dozen videos in a single work-session, and if you get your skills up, you’ll be able to do it, too.

The real use for the hits you get from #shorts is to build your channel, to get more subscribers. I don’t even ask them to subscribe, they just do it on their own, and they’re doing it by the hundreds per week!

I’ve just two weeks ago started to update my youtube channels — I have several, and they’re all doing well — and you can see the progress visibly. I hadn’t done anything on them for three years, since COVID struck.

Now I spend most of my time on youtube, doing a variety of things, but mostly posting videos for your consideration, as a source of inspiration for your own video work. Posting on youtube gives you the opportunity to serve and to provide help in subtle ways.

I imbue my videos with Blessings. Nobody has to be told that’s what’s happening. They just get the Blessing, freely and without hesitation.

Youtube gives the video creators a LOT of analytical tools to use to create an effect, and this is particularly true in the realm of the #short, because that’s where they’re feeling the most competition, primarily from Tik-Tok, but there are a slew of other coming up fast around the far side of the track.

Did you know that you’re allowed by youtube to take a CLIP out of someone else’s movie and use it as a #short of your own? Well, you can.

And did you know that you can use all the music you want to — if the clip is of music, don’t worry, using electronic fingerprinting, the actual owner of record gets paid for the play.

The main use of pumping a youtube channel to get more views and more viewing per video is to create a huge credibility factor for yourself. If you’re telling people how to get a million views on a video, but your videos typically get 18 to 34 views, nobody’s going to listen to you.

In addition to the personal challenge, and the opportunity to gain Merit through Service, there’s a lot to be said for the youtube game, so get busy laying down your bets.

Think of each video that you create as a building block, and learn how to get those hits — it’s not as easy or as obvious as you may think, and even if you do happen to accidentally get lucky and get a million views on one of your videos, let’s see you do it again!

Only then will I believe you.

The trick is to keep yourself going, and to get a good pace up — you should have one or two work-sessions a day, and in each one, strive to post at least one video in that work-session, and if you have the endurance and the skills for it, post several, a decent 20 minutes apart.

If you get a runaway video, stop posting until it runs out of steam, then double your efforts. Think of entirely new ways of saying the same thing again and again.

The public wants only one thing — the same thing as before, only different. That’s a hard combination to beat, but you CAN teach yourself to do it.

Get an education on KEY words and POWER words, and get to know and understand the difference and how to apply them to your titles.

Develop an online presence and character that is unique to yourself. Above all, keep a good sense of humor and don’t take yourself too seriously.

Want to make the Gods laugh? Make a Plan. Well, how about some fun videos as a sort of reward for reading the blog…?

See You At The Top!!!
