ESCAPE! Video #30

Spreading the Cheer:

My landscape in the collection of King Hussein & Queen Noor of Jordan.

Is it number thirty already? Seems like only yesterday I came to the idea that it would be excellent to offer my time and energies to locate exceptional videos that are well-worth watching, and which bring about a state of gloriously hysterical giggles amid a plethora of belly-laughs and gasps of awe and wonder.

What I mean is, I like to find good videos and post them here with commentaries for your pleasure and amusement, in hopes that you will find yourself uplifted beyond the dreary misery of your day, into a world of merriment and good cheer.

As I’ve often been quoted as saying, “God rest ye Merry, Gentlemen, let nothing you dismay,” and yes, the grammar is correct — “God rest ye merry” meant, in the time of Shakespeare and Bacon, “to sleep well”.

In short, heed no nightly noises.

Anyone who saw the movie but didn’t read the book will not get that gag, but the same will be true for almost any movie inspired by a book that nobody who worked on the script or the film has ever read, like “Lord of the Rings”, “Catch 22” and “The Bible”.

So the idea is, YOU should spread around this page so people can get to it, and suggest to them that others in their circle of friends would also like it. Generally, as a rule of thumb, if you like a joke or music or dance or social hangout, your friends will also like the same joke or music or dance or social hangout.

Like attracts like, and birds of a feather flock together — that’s what makes ghettos out of every neighborhood including Beverly Hills.

The next video may open your eyes to the cigar-box guitar, handmade playables from the 1930s and the hobo generation.

Next we’ll audition a glass organ, played on water-filled cognac glasses.

If you’ve never seen Paul Hunt the comedy genius perform gymnastics, especially on the balance-beam, generally reserved for female contestants for obvious reasons, you’re in for a rare treat.

Now this is most unusual — these are for-real first responders doing a lyp-sync video that is amazingly well-done for an amateur production filmed on somebody’s body-cam — that’s a joke. It’s filmed very well and very clearly.

Well, I’m up against the time again — breakfast is waiting in the cafe.

You’ll notice a certain air of relief, due to the recent elections, but don’t let the apparent win distract you from the certainty that something wicked this way comes.

Here’s a “bonus video” for your enjoyment — I knew these guys — they sang at our school for Pete Seeger’s weekly music classes at Downtown Community School in NYC.

Hope you enjoyed today’s selection.

See You At The Top!!!
