Is Your Promotion Shit, Gold or Dope?

If you didn’t understand a word of that title — shit, gold or dope — you’re not alone. You have plenty of company in your fellow baby boomers, and you’d be totally lost in the Brave New World of social media and 21st century marketing, which is very social, if you get my meaning, but the sociality is 100% artificial, like the life.

In short, you don’t speak the language anymore, dude. You’re utterly clueless in a world of swiping thumbs and shorthand text-style speech. You don’t know how to cope with a world that’s all masked up and socially distanced.

So you need to hire somebody to help you get your stuff out there. You can’t do it with what you’ve always done. It don’t work no more, and Windows 10 is your enemy.

You have little hope of success alone. You will need some allies, and you can find them, perhaps, on fiverr.com. Remember that those folks are ACTIVELY LOOKING FOR WORK.

If you can get some benefit out of it, you can develop a relationship with your service providers, but you have to make a profit, or it can’t sustain.

Repeat business is the key. You can’t survive on one-shot deals in the nearest alley, and anything that takes advantage is not okay. You don’t want to add bad karma to an already difficult situation.

So what’s legal, and fair to everyone, and ethical and tactically correct? Right. None of those things are easy, but they have to be part of the deal, or no deal.

Now, let’s take a minute to reflect.

We’re hiring people to promote our stuff, and we want to know if we’re getting our money’s worth.

Are they doing us any good, or are we just pouring money down the drain?

One way to determine whether your marketing is having any effect is to make actual sales, and measure those sales against “no sales” or “fewer sales” before your marketing campaign.

In order to SEE the results, you should only promote AFTER an item has had all the sales it’s going to have, or BEFORE you put it on the shelf, digitally speaking.

Only when the random hits have settled down, will you be able to determine the exact effect of a promotion campaign.

In the case of a video, promote it when you launch it, but if you want to see the actual effects of the promotion, promote an OLD video whose hits have ceased.

This will reveal the power, if any, of your promotion, and if there’s no response, you need to rethink what you’re doing, and maybe try another promoter.

If you launch your promotion on the same day as you release your item onto the market, you’ll have an accurate idea of what an “opening day promotion” will bring in the way of sales — probably none.

Sometimes it can fool you, and the thing sells right off the shelf, and that’s why you keep going, keep buying that lottery ticket, in hopes that it will someday pay off big.

Problem is, it might.

So you should if you’re going to keep gambling at least pick the horse you think has a chance of winning.

That means a video url or a web page url. You have no other options on the internet, and we’re not talking face-to-face marketing, although some folks apparently think that “this is a stickup” is just good marketing skills.

It’s not, but it is evidently very good politics.

Now, how are you going to promote things? A straightforward presentation might be the best solution.

Funny commercials get laughs, but unless you’re Geico, you’re not going to strike a good chord with funny ads, like this one:

He has millions of views and over a million subscribers, but what a risk, especially with the atmosphere so chilling now and radicals everywhere.

Still, it’s tempting to have Jesus himself giving my latest marketing message. He’s on fiverr and by golly, he’s working and has quite a following.

Me, I think I’ll admire it but stay personally away from angering that crowd, although that’s really hard to do — they’re very touchy about everything, and they aspire to live like Jesus.

Apparently he was very uptight and intolerant, if we go by their example.

Anyway, it’s a fun idea, and maybe Santa Claus or the Easter Bunny would be more appropriate as a spokesperson for your product or service.

You might be wondering what all this fiverr marketing has to do with love.

Love is demanded when you interact with others, even when you video stream in their direction.

Love is part of every interaction.

Upness, Downness, Strangeness and Love. Those are the guiding elements that rule the universe, and don’t you forget it.

Upness and Downness you’re already quite familiar with, and you’ve been handling that fairly well so far.

Strangeness takes getting used to — it’s all in dealing with your reactions to the transitions, and the faster they come, the less balanced you seem to be.

Love is entirely out of reach. Forget it.

If you can’t forget it, you’llĀ  have to endure a long path of learning how to love and be loved, and what exactly is love.

Love is what creates a bond between Heaven and Earth. That’s what you need to learn to see and feel.

It might take a while.

See You At The Top!!!
