PASTEL PRINT — “Gesture Bass Player”, Signed & Dated in the Plate.

The Bass Player is a fast drawing, and the pastel work respects the rapidly sketched impression.

NEW GRAPHICS — GESTURE PASTEL PRINTS — $25 each, they fit into 5″x7″ frames quite nicely, but they come unmatted and unframed for the wholesale price of $25. You can frame these and sell them at a nice profit if you do the work yourself.

PASTEL PRINT — “Gesture Musician Blue Horn”, Signed & Dated in the Plate

Gesture drawings are typically in a single flourish, with lots of certainty and power.

x
PASTEL PRINT — “Gesture Flamenco Dancer”, Signed & Dated in the Plate

If you happen to dance this style, and I do, it’s easy to manifest the right impulses to generate the feeling of Flamenco.

x
PASTEL PRINT — “Gesture Nude Electric Bass”, Signed & Dated in the Plate

This was a study for my own use, not intended for the marketplace, but it has become a popular print, and so I’m offering it now in this smaller less expensive format.

x
PASTEL PRINT — “Gesture Space-Warped Guitar Player”, Signed & Dated in the Plate

The warping was just a product of the gesture drawing, nothing planned, it just happened and I got out of the way for it to do itself.

x
PASTEL PRINT — “Gesture Flute Player”, Signed & Dated in the Plate

The flute player was actually drawn from a glimpse over at Menlo rehearsing the flute part for a movements demonstration in Sacramento.

x
PASTEL PRINT — “Gesture Swing Strings”, Signed & Dated in the Plate

I did this years before Jenny Scheinman appeared on the scene, but it could be she, could it not???

PASTEL PRINT — “Gesture Nude Come Blow Your Horn”, Signed & Dated in the Plate
x
PASTEL PRINT — “Gesture Satyr & Nymph”, Signed & Dated in the Plate

Inspired by the gesture drawing itself, the figures manifested themselves out of the shapeless forms.

x
PASTEL PRINT — “Gesture Hunter with a Gun”, Signed & Dated in the Plate

This was just one of those crazy things that drew itself — I had nothing to do with it.

x
PASTEL PRINT — “Gesture Trumpet Blue & Yellow”, Signed & Dated in the Plate

Originally made as a large pencil-signed print, this is quite delightful as a smaller unlimited edition artprint.

x
PASTEL PRINT — “Gesture Mad Violinist”, Signed & Dated in the Plate

Mad violinist, indeed, probably the great Niccolo Paganini, noted as the greatest solo violinist who ever lived, and at the same time, one of the nuttiest squirrels on the face of the Earth.

x
PASTEL PRINT — “Gesture Bass Player Blue & Brown”, Signed & Dated in the Plate

This sold out as a larger pencil-signed, and shows up now and again at prices that I’d just love to get, but there are no more of them out of the edition of 50 that were printed in 1987 for our art auctions. All gone now, but you can get this smaller unlimited signed in the plate print for only $25, a tiny fraction of the price of the pencil-signed even at issue.

x
PASTEL PRINT — “Gesture Fiddler Deep Purple”, Signed & Dated in the Plate

I didn’t decide to draw a fiddler, the curves of the gesture line did all my thinking and deciding for me.

x
PASTEL PRINT — “Gesture Horn Player Blue Note”, Signed & Dated in the Plate

This is my all-time best-selling print. It sold out the first day of issue, all 50 copies, and I haven’t seen one on the secondary market yet, which means the owners are probably all still alive. Most relatives will dump these prints, along with the original van Ostades and Renoir etchings, at the Salvation Army, a good place to check for unidentified flying artworks.

x
PASTEL PRINT — “Gesture Guitar Player Red & Blue”, Signed & Dated in the Plate

Clearly a drawing that made itself, no intention here, just following the guidance of the flowing gesture line.

That’s the lot for the moment, will post more as high-level printing scans become available.

See You At The Top!!!
