Projectile Ballistics and Faith

Once you have a working projectile with real physics operating to produce apogee/perigee ballistics, Faith is certain. Beliefs may come, and beliefs may go, but Faith is always with us. Let’s talk weppins. First of all, in real combat, there’s not a lot of blossoming fireballs going on out of muzzles — you want to suppress the sound and the sight to prevent sniper spotters from getting a mark on your position.

Weppins are those things an Adventurer typically hefts about when wandering in the wilderness and suchlike places; Dreadfull Swampe is my personal favorite in an upcoming game on which I’m working.

Here, apart from powerups and add-ons, is the Basic Weapon Rack of current CTF and Afterlife Adventure games from my atelier:

Weapon Damage//Armor remaining on Target//Velocity of projectile at Target//range of weapon or projectile//accuracy per distance//atmospherics//windage//elevation//remaining life of target//total htk of target//rate of fire of weapon//explosive exit//ballistics//percentage of critical hit//dodging effects//blast damage//coolateral damage//additional damage such as poison, flame, ice, magical spells, runes and other mystical devices to improve the effectiveness of a weppin.

Naturally, “rate of fire” doesn’t just refer to a gun — it certainly includes how fast you can recover to kick, hit or otherwise maim and bully an opponent to death and resurrection* (see “respawn”), or how swiftly you can deliver a second blow or stab or swipe or riposte to an opponent’s aggression.

All the really grim, grisly & gruesome weapons in my medieval and space opera games are made in this spirit. Here is the roster of current weapons:
